11 Ways to Free Repeat Traffic

by Michael Davey

Free repeat website traffic has to be the second most importantpriority for any E-Commerce site. Number one being the initialgeneration of traffic. Take the time to get your site consumerfriendly. Spend time visiting sites you frequent and write down all theitems that attract you about that site and duplicate them. You don’thave to re-invent the wheel to have a successful website.

11 METHODS

1. Offer as much additional value on your website as possible withoutshooting yourself in the foot. For affiliates and partners you canplace links to their sites and ask them to reciprocate the favor.Another great way to benefit both of you is to advertise their productsand ask them to do the same. This provides free traffic and advertisingfor both of you. Obviously you don’t want to advertise any product orservice that you are in competition with.

2. You can allow customers to ‘opt in’ and provide them with a 10%discount on their first order, and allow them to be the first to seeany new promotions you are offering. This also allows you to stay inconstant contact with your customers and potential customers. Couponsare another very effective way of keeping your ‘opt in’ list returningto your site.

3. Create a schedule to update the pages on your website on a regularbasis. In time, stagnant websites are dropped by some of the searchengines. I would suggest you put a date counter on the page to showwhen it was last updated. This also tells all your visitors veryquickly how attentive and diligent you are in bringing them the latestinformation.

4. Make it simple for a visitor to become a customer by adding a linkto your primary page with a script ‘Book Mark or Add this site to yourFavorites’. Most internet users are repeatedly referencing theirfavorite’s folder, I know I do.

5. Like item 4, make it simple for your visitors to attract potentialcustomers for you by adding a link ‘Recommend this site to a Friend’ sothat the visitor can email your website link, with a pre-written title,”Thought you might be interested in this”, that with the click of abutton a visitor in recommending your site to.

6. Create an ‘Our Policies’ page that clearly defines your philosophyand principles in dealing with your customers. Also post your privacypolicy as well so that clients know they are secure when they visityour site. This is a great opportunity to reveal to your potentialcustomers who and what your principles and morals are all about.

7. Brand your website. This will create a presence and feel for yourcustomers and visitors that they are at your site. Use consistentcolors, page design, logos and slogans on every page and always providea ‘Contact Us’ link and ‘Home’ link on each page. Spend some time tocreate a “favicon” to forever identify and brand your site. I know frommy own surfing experiences that there have been sites I was visitingwith no way to return to their home page without clicking the backbutton. Very annoying. You need your sites pages to flow.

8. Create a FAQ page which addresses most of the doubts, questions, andclarifications about your product or your company that are likely to beasked. Sit down and picture yourself arriving at your site for the veryfirst time. Get a pen and paper and write down what you would like toknow as a potential purchaser from this site. This will help to resolvemost of the customers doubts in their first visit to your site.

9. Never spam a client, who has opted for newsletters, with unsolicitedemails! Also if they decide they want to ‘opt out’ of the mailings, always be sure you honor their request and take them off the mailinglist. They may still come back if they like your products. But theywill certainly not come back if you continue to flood their email boxwith mails they no longer wish to receive.

10. Make sure each page on your website has the appropriate title andkeywords so that your customer can find their way back to your site ifthey lose the bookmark. Remember your page title appears in the webbrowser. Anyone like me who has multiple tabs and pages open at thesame time, the title allows for a quick return.

11. I saved this for last because it is my largest pet peeve: grammar! When I view a website with numerous spelling and obvious grammaticalerrors, I leave immediately. I’m sure that I am in the majority ofpeople who see a website with these errors; our immediate reaction is,if someone cares that little about their sites presentation, theycertainly won’t care about me as a customer. Use any spell checkapplication you wish, but use one for everything you write.

How to Sell to the Rich - Part 2

I received some interesting comments about my last post. It seems thereare a few readers out there who are not marketers, either of the onlineor offline kind. And they didn’t agree with my contention that moneybrings happiness (and that more money brings more happiness). And, thatif you are ever to become a successful direct marketer - specifically, one who markets to the rich - you must first, as a priori, want withall your might - to be rich! One reader went so far as to imply that Iwas a moron (ouch!) Okay, so these dissenters probably either scannedthe post or didn’t fully understand it - and saw only what they wantedto see - an opportunity to disagree. I mean, after all, how couldanyone in their right mind ever disagree with anything I say? Sheesh!
